FISITA, the international membership organisation for the automotive mobility engineering profession, welcomed some of the world’s leading mobility technologists and professionals to its FISITA PLUS conference last week, at County Hall in London, UK.

Chris Mason, FISITA CEO, said: “FISITA PLUS was a tremendous success, featuring a fabulous line-up of international speakers, who delivered visionary and inspiring presentations to an extremely engaged audience.

“As FISITA PLUS moderator I was delighted to see that speakers encouraged open discussion about the future of mobility engineering with the audience on the day – these conversations continued throughout FISITA PLUS, providing fantastic networking opportunities for everybody involved in this highly successful event.”

The day’s technology focus at FISITA PLUS culminated with a headline speech by Andy Palmer, Vehicle Line Director at McLaren Automotive Ltd, who delivered an insight to how the fast-evolving mobility industry is influencing the future of McLaren Automotive.

Andy Palmer said: “FISITA PLUS was a great conference and I enjoyed presenting to delegates about McLaren Automotive and what drives us as we prepare for the future. It was inspiring to hear from leaders within our industry, the level of knowledge sharing and thought leadership demonstrating the value of community and collaboration. It was a really excellent day and I’m looking forward to 2018.”

Andy also displayed a McLaren 570S outside County Hall – the venue for FISITA PLUS, which drew significant attention from delegates and passing crowds. As Headline Sponsor to FISITA PLUS, the Centre for Connected & Autonomous Vehicles also arranged for a driverless pod to sit outside the venue, which was developed by RDM Group.

FISITA PLUS featured a speaker line-up from FEV, Ford, GM, Groupe Renault, McLaren, Shell, TATA Motors, Toyota and Transport for London. The conference was split into three sections and speakers presented under the following headings: The Mobility Future, Artificial Intelligence and Mobility Technology and Propulsion of the Future.

The Leadership Interview, hosted by Paul Mascarenas, was the centrepiece of the conference, featuring Ford’s former CTO and current independent director, business advisor and technology executive, in discussion with Jon Lauckner, Chief Technology Officer and VP of R&D at General Motors.

FISITA PLUS will return in 2018 and will continue to support this engineering generation’s development of safe, sustainable and affordable mobility. Details about tickets and commercial opportunities for FISITA PLUS in 2018 will be announced at www.fisita.com/fisitaplus.
